April 24 is National Drug Take Back Day

by The 100 Companies

An estimated 18 million Americans misused prescription medications in 2017. Regrettably, most were provided by family and friends.

To fight this dangerous trend, the Drug Enforcement Administration hosts the biannual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, with the 20th iteration on April 24. Last October’s Take Back collected almost 500 tons of drugs across 4,587 collection sites; 500 tons of drugs that could have been ingested by someone other than the intended patient.

Until effective and affordable at-home Safe Medication Disposal Kits like Deterra achieve ubiquity, Take Back will remain the best way to keep unused prescription drugs out of curious hands.
