Feb. 13 means lawmakers are 30 days out from the expected sine die of Florida’s 2020 Legislative Session. While March 13 seems reasonable to complete the state’s budget and other priorities, these next four weeks are when the high-level negotiations take place in earnest.
The House budget comes in at $91.37 billion with Senate at $92.83 billion. Gov. DeSantis is requesting a $91.4 billion budget to keep Florida running into the 2020-21 fiscal year beginning July 1.
Issues to be hammered out include affordable housing, pay raises for teachers, environmental programs, tourism marketing dollars and funding for health care and social services.
