When our daughter was young, I started decorating Schorsch manor for Halloween, but a jack-o’-lantern here and a scarecrow there wasn’t going to cut it. We didn’t intend to be the Griswolds of St. Petersburg on Halloween, but slowly, that’s who we became. And that’s a spook-tacular thing.
Our house has become the trick-or-treating stop for all the neighborhood kids. We love that. It’s definitely a conversation starter and helped us build relationships with our neighbors.
However you chose to decorate, please, just don’t leave a bowl on the front step with a “just take one” note. That’s just rude.
