An (effective) mask for every occasion

There is a mask for every occasion these days, but what is effective? A recent Duke study found some cotton masks are about as effective as surgical masks; alarmingly, they also found the popular gaiters may be worse than going maskless.

Similarly, Today found reusable, double-layer cotton masks are effective, and that polyester masks or face shields are a good option for warmer weather. You can also add a filter for extra protection.

Another tip, test the effectiveness of your mask by lighting a candle and seeing if you can blow it out while wearing your face covering of choice.
