It is difficult to think about a summer barbecue without a hot dog coming to mind. Whether you prefer to enjoy ketchup, chili or even gourmet, do not forget to celebrate National Hot Dog Day on Wednesday, July 22.
According to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, Americans consume roughly 20 billion hot dogs a year. Los Angeles residents consume about 30 million pounds, beating out New York and Philadelphia.
If you were wondering, the world record for most hot dogs consumed in 10 minutes belongs to Joey Chestnut, downing 75 dogs and buns at Nathan’s annual July 4 contest.
