The Florida State Seminoles Spring game will have special meaning this year, as it will be the final broadcast for legendary play-by-play man Gene Deckerhoff, who announced his retirement last week.
Known best as “The Voice,” Deckerhoff did his first FSU football game in 1979 and has called Seminole basketball for 48 seasons. He is well-known as the Voice of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, having joined their broadcast booth in 1989. He will call one final season for the Bucs this fall.
Football fans have countless memories of Gene Deckerhoff narrating important moments in their lives, he will be greatly missed.
