Black History Month began in 1915, the 50th anniversary of emancipation. February was chosen in honor of two great men who had an instrumental role in Black American history and had birthdays during the month: Abraham Lincoln and Fredrick Douglas.
The City of Orlando’s Office of Multicultural Affairs is celebrating by offering workshops on a range of topics that all relate back to Black History Month. Check out the multiple events taking place in Jacksonville to honor this important month.
