It’s a Merry Christmas for baseball fans on the First Coast as the Miami Marlins officially invited the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp to become their Triple A affiliate in the International League.
It’s big move up from the Double A Southern League, as the “show” will be but a phone call away.
Jacksonville last had a AAA franchise in the 60’s, then played 50 seasons in the Southern League starting in 1970. This new area of Triple-A baseball will see Jacksonville compete at the same level as teams from cities such as Buffalo, Charlotte, Indianapolis, Las Vegas and Nashville starting in April.
