The Florida Legislature will consider the designation of Interstate 95 from the Georgia state line to Miami as the Purple Heart Memorial Highway with the filing of HB 433 by state Rep. Elizabeth Fetterhoff of DeLand.
The 382 miles of I-95 that parallel our Atlantic coast would honor the Purple Heart recipients in our state and nation with appropriate markers placed by the Florida Department of Transportation.
Fetterhoff, who served in the Florida Army National Guard, believes this is “a remarkable way for our state to remember those men and women who have shown extraordinary service to our country.”
