When brilliant marketers branded the day after Black Friday as Small Business Saturday, the country was trying to emerge from the recession after the 2008 banking crisis. It was just 10 years ago.

Now small businesses, the backbone of the nation, need our support. It is easy to order online and have home delivery during the pandemic; it requires effort to find ways to support local small businesses.

Think of those you treasure, from the dry cleaners you don’t use as often when working from home, to the clothing stores, the food purveyors and merchandisers that need you this year.
