Thursday, July 1 begins the newest sales tax holiday in Florida. Joining the “Disaster Preparedness” holiday and August’s “Back to School” holidays that have been held regularly since 1998, the new Freedom Week is a boost to consumers and the Florida outdoors and entertainment industries.
Admissions to sporting events and state parks, fitness club memberships, sports equipment and general outdoor activity supplies including fishing and camping items, boating and water activity supplies are tax-exempt July 1-7.
Some items are based on a specific dollar cap, for example the first $250 of the price of a bicycle or grill is exempt.
