Physicians are urging everyone to get a flu shot this year. The flu vaccine may help in case of a co-infection with COVID-19 – both of which need to be avoided.
Early demand was strong according to data from SingleCare. In August alone there was a 1600%+ increase in demand for shots from August 2019. Key points are:
• It takes 2 weeks to develop antibodies after getting an influenza vaccination.
• The flu shot reduces your chances of getting the flu by 40%-60%.
• A flu shot will protect you against 3-4 flu strains.
Demand is high and there are spot shortages throughout the country.
